The Premise
Eli's best friend Sam has a dare passed down from his older cousin: stand back-to-back at sunset, step forward together, and your shadows cross and trade places. It's supposed to just mean you're best friends. Eli goes along with it, the way he always does with Sam's dares, and doesn't think about it again until his own shadow starts moving without him.
