The Scarecrow in the North Field

The Iver family farm has one field that's never been planted — not in this generation, not in the one before it, not as far back as anyone remembers. The only rule that comes with it: nobody walks the north field after dark. This summer, a scarecrow shows up out there — and it doesn't stay put. Its arms shift when nobody's looking. Night by night, it turns up somewhere new, always a little closer to the house, until it's standing right outside a bedroom window, looking up.
